Claudia Krogmeier

Claudia’s work, "This Ladder,” considers the biblical passage in which Jacob sees angels ascending and descending a ladder while dreaming. Abstract rather than physical, the ladder depicts a transition, a wrestling with the self, or a fragmentation of thought which can occur with the introduction of new ideas. Is the ladder a symbol for moving towards new ways of thinking or understanding the world, or a passageway which can only be crossed by working through unfamiliar perspectives, confronting old biases and unravelling implicit beliefs? Is it the self which must be conquered in order to "ascend the ladder?"

About Claudia

Claudia Krogmeier has practiced filmmaking since 2014 upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts degree at Indiana University. She earned her PhD in technology in 2022 from Purdue University. In both research and creative practice, Claudia seeks to better understand and direct human emotion. Her more recent video work examines social interactions and structure on a more critical level, while her next research will explore augmented reality applications for the reduction of mental health stigma.
