I recall learning about the curse of Ham as a child, while my father would preach about it from his pulpit. I can remember observing displeased members of my father’s congregation and watching the church members numbers slowly dwindle after. I’m uncertain if his evolved messages caused attendance to shrink or if there were more circumstances. I do know however, that the story is impactful and can be hard to swallow. Although I do not believe that there is a curse that descends from the son of Ham, I do know that the story has been used to justify, and motivate minds and actions over time. Because of this, I wanted to shed light to that narrative.
